Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST)
The cranial sacral rhythm is the subtle pulse of the flowing of the cerebral spinal (CS) fluid within the closed system of the brain and spine. With great skill a practitioner can detect this pulse at nearly any area of the body, even a wrist or ankle. Treatment is given by very gentle light touch on the body – usually the head, neck, and spine, to restore flow and balance to a healthy rhythm and free any restrictions. Reasons for a decreased flow or asymmetric rhythm may include improper movement, injury, surgery, or trauma.
A session of CST may be done using only solely cranial sacral techniques, or can be combined with acupuncture.
